Somniloquy (v.)

1. SleepTalking
2. Verbal vocalization in one’s sleep ranging from mumbled nonsense to coherent sentences, but without awareness of the event.
3. Utterances that may be brief, infrequent, and devoid of any emotional stress.
4. Long speeches during sleep that can cause embarrassment and can annoy a bed partner, roommate, or be disruptive in group-sleeping situations.

There is a grey area in which unconscious expression made audible or visible can hold both truth and hyperbole. When we don’t look so hard, questions suddenly answer themselves. ‘Somniloquy’ is an illuminating array of utterances and sonic spectacles that could awaken us from our slumber.

As improvisors, they began to “collectively weave melodies and vamps into intricate spider webs of rhythm.” These experiments created a new sound and dimension to the palette of improvisation and experimental music.
